Last week my wife and I were grocery shopping. Whenever possible we like to support local brands even if it is more expensive. We know that every time we support a local brand, the money stays in our community. We had the opportunity to support a local flour company and decided against buying a national brand.
As we walked down the aisle looking for a large bag of flour we had a choice, the large national brand or the local brand, Lehi Roller Mills. Although it was a bit less flour than the national brand, and a little more expensive (roughly $2), we were happy to support the people and companies in our community.
You may not know Lehi Roller Mills, but it is quite famous. It was where Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon) took a job in the 1984 version of Footloose. It is a landmark in the great town of Lehi, Utah and has been around since 1905.
We know that buying local keeps a higher percentage of the money in the local economy, 53.3% vs 14.1% and we want to do everything we can to keep our money in our local community.
